Mike Francesa crushes Robert Saleh for how he handled Aaron Rodgers’ absence

Mike Francesa remains bearish on Robert Saleh.

This week, the Jets head coach called Aaron Rodgers’ absence from mandatory minicamp “inexcused” before walking it back and saying he was alright with it, and Francesa let Saleh have it on his BetRivers podcast.

“Saleh — who doesn’t know how to handle any situation; he makes every situation worse when he gets in front of a microphone — handled this terribly this week,” Francesa said.

“If he’s OK with this then he just made it worse. He is a puppet in this game. He just showed you what a puppet he is in this game. It’s an inexcused absence, I’m fine with it. How can you be fine with it if it’s an inexcused absence?!”

Francesa, who ripped Rodgers for skipping the camp earlier this week, called Saleh’s comments oxymoronic.

“You can’t have both. If it’s inexcused, how can you be fine with it?” Francesa asked.

“Then none of your guys have to show up. It’s either mandatory or it’s not. It’s not somewhat mandatory, or it’s mandatory to everyone but the guy who runs the franchise, the guy who’s more important here than I am, more important here than anybody is.

“And there’s the coach basically saying, ‘I’m here, and I’m at his beck and call. He runs the franchise, I don’t.'”

Francesa said that Saleh has “no chance” to succeed when everyone knows that he is less powerful than Rodgers.

“That’s why Saleh has no chance. He has abdicated his own power, and given it to the quarterback,” Francesa said.

“You can’t do that as a head coach.”
