Be ‘submerged’ in NASA photos at this new NYC experience
Outer space is soon coming to Manhattan.
A new exhibition promises to engulf audiences in galactical data from the James Webb Space Telescope.
Beginning June 1, in collaboration with NASA, New York’s newest “immersive” experience will debut at ARTECHOUSE — the experiential art studio based in the former boiler room of Chelsea Market.
Called “Beyond the Light,” the show promises to “submerge” patrons “in the timeless story of the light surrounding us” through never-before-seen visuals captured by the telescope, which is the largest and most powerful of its kind, and has been sending back stunning images since launching in 2021.
“‘Beyond the Light’ is an original artistic expression of science, data and space exploration created for 21st century audiences with the help of the latest experiential technology,” Sandro Kereselidze, ARTECHOUSE Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, told The Post. “Conceptualized through many collaborative sessions between ARTECHOUSE Studio and NASA scientists, it is an innovative blend of scientific and artistic storytelling that we hope will help bring our universe closer and expand our imaginations beyond.”
The show will be anchored by a 25-minute “cinematic journey” about the existential theme of how humans have experienced light over time.
There will also be six supporting installations covering the moon, heliophysics, climate science and more
The visual components will be accompanied by an original musical score.
Previous ARTECHOUSE exhibits have flooded the intimate, underground space in themed projections — making for a highly photogenic, all-consuming digital overlay to reality which, while abstract to explain, is entertaining to move through.

After immersing New Yorkers in its colorful, out-of-this-world display, the show is set to move to Washington, D.C. this fall.
General admission tickets start at $25, with discounts available for students, seniors, military and first responders, family packs, and New York and New Jersey residents.
“Beyond the Light” will be open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 439 W. 15th St.
