LSU adds Big East star Aneesah Morrow to powerhouse roster

LSU added another star in Aneesah Morrow to its powerhouse roster, the former DePaul forward announced on social media on Friday.

Morrow teased her over 17,000 social media followers across Instagram and Twitter on April 30, posting photos of her sporting an LSU jersey with the caption “Tiger Nation what’s upppp? #notcommitted.”

Yet, suspicions were put to rest once she released a video with Caktus AI, in which Morrow practiced back in her high school’s gym, Simeon, in Chicago while chatting with the ChatGBT alternative about where she should transfer to based on her goals to “win championships and build a dynasty.”

Caktus AI responded, “The answer is clear, you belong in Baton Rouge, go be great!”

Morrow later posted another picture in the purple and gold next to the team’s first national title trophy with the caption “#24 New Home. COMMITTED.”

The rising junior also considered USC and South Carolina, but joins the Tigers coach Kim Mulkey and her defending national champions along with recent recruit Hailey Van Lith from Louisville.

“I’m never intimidated by playing against or playing on a team with amazing, talented players,” Morrow told ESPN. “That’s what I want to be surrounded around. I want to be around players who are going to make me better. I feel like we’re going to challenge each other on a day-to-day basis. We all have the same end goal, and that’s to win the national championship, to win the conference.”

Now teammate and one of the biggest stars to follow in the college women’s basketball space Angel Reese posted to her Instagram story for Morrow’s announcement saying, “ahhhh period. PRETTY GIRLS GO TO LSU.”

Morrow doesn’t arrive to Baton Rouge without her own strengths, as she earned the 2021-22 Freshman of the Year crown and established herself as a threat in her first two years of college play.

While the Blue Demons fell short to Villanova in the Big East tournament, she was a consistent star at 6-foot-1, putting up an average of 25.7 points per game along with 12.2 rebounds and two assists in her sophomore year.

Her addition has increased the Tigers expected output for the upcoming year, as they secured two of the top transfers in the country in her and Van Lith.

“I really enjoyed my time here at DePaul,” she said. “I learned so much here and in the city of Chicago.

“I feel like I was a butterfly in a cocoon and now it’s time for me to go and spread my wings.”
