How to watch King Charles’ coronation: Time, channels, streaming, more

Charles will finally be in charge.

The royal family — alongside 2,000 distinguished guests — will descend on Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, for the extravagant coronation of King Charles III.

The 74-year-old monarch will be crowned alongside his wife, Camilla, 75, who will be installed as queen.

Charles ascended to the British throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Sept. 8, 2022.

Charles’ brothers — Prince Edward and Prince Andrew — and their sister, Princess Anne, also will attend the event, along with their spouses and children.

The former Prince of Wales’ youngest son, 38-year-old Prince Harry, is even making the journey across the Atlantic Ocean from his home in Montecito, California — though, perhaps unsurprisingly, he’s doing it solo.

The Duke of Sussex’s wife, Meghan Markle, is staying home with their kids, Archie — who turns 4 that day — and Lilibet Diana, 1.

Harry will join his estranged brother Prince William, along with his wife, Kate Middleton, and their kids — Prince Louis, 5, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince George, 9 — for the momentous occasion.

The crowning will be the first time that William, 40, and Invictus Games founder Harry set eyes on each other in person since the release of the latter’s controversial memoir “Spare” in January.

The royal bros will reportedly keep their distance, though, with Harry allegedly to be seated several rows behind the Duke of Cambridge.

Harry is expected to jet back to his home to the Golden State right after the coronation to celebrate Archie’s fourth birthday.

Rehearsals for the enthronement are well underway since Wednesday morning, with thousands of military personnel gearing up for a run-through on the busy streets of London.

The practice route spanned from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square and Downing Street and then to Westminster Abbey.

The all-night session featured soldiers playing instruments including saxophones, trumpets, horns and cymbals as they marched down the road while onlookers watched.

At 9:45 a.m., King Charles and Camilla, currently Queen Consort, will line up to start the procession from Buckingham Palace to the church. They are set to arrive at the abbey by 10:53 a.m.

By 10:45 a.m., government representatives, religious figures, prime ministers, dignitaries, foreign royals and members of the British royal family will find their places in the congregation audience.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., and Charles and Camilla will enter the cathedral through the Great West Door.

By noon, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will have blessed and anointed Charles. He is finally coronated with St. Edward’s Crown when it is placed on his head.

At that time, trumpets and gun salutes are set to be heard across the United Kingdom.

At 1 p.m., the religious service will conclude, and the newly inducted king and queen will stroll out of the abbey and into the Gold State Coach, with which they will ride back to the palace.

When 1:45 p.m. rolls around, the monarchs will be presented with a royal military salute in the palace gardens.

About a half-hour later, the entire royal family will wave to their adoring public from the palace balcony and watch a military flypast — weather permitting — to commemorate the occasion.
